Vision
MODR was initially developed in a collaboration between the concerned citizens of a small southeastern community in decline and a group of designers and architects. With assistance from an academic institution, a master plan was developed for the community to reassess the rural southern town's priorities and create obtainable goals using a method of scenario planning exercises. As a result of the community expanding successfully, new projects throughout the region emerged. The studio has kept the principles of academia at its core while observing that architecture and research is foremost a service industry requiring that the needs of the client be met. While we ardently believe that the satisfaction of the client is critical, we also believe that it is our charge to instill the excitement of discovery, collaboration, engage current issues and create places instead of mere spaces, bringing intrinsic value to our client's projects. Our work sequentially concerns the successful pursuit of creation in design, that through the course and process, will open ideas and bring meaningful qualities to the built environment petitioned by an ever-evolving technological world.
